Elaine Q. Borazon

Elaine Q. Borazon

SHAPE Asia Project Lead · Country Lead, Philippines
Elaine Q. Borazon is an Associate Professor at the International Graduate Program of Education and Human Development, National Sun Yat-sen University, Taiwan. She holds a PhD in Management and has over a decade of experience in the food industry, focusing on quality systems and food retail environments. Dr. Borazon has led several regional research projects addressing the double burden of malnutrition, food marketing, and the role of retailers in shaping food choices.
Sirinya Phulkerd

Sirinya Phulkerd

Country Lead, Thailand
Sirinya Phulkerd is an Associate Professor at the Institute for Population and Social Research, Mahidol University. With a PhD in Public Health and Policy, she leads the Food ME research group, which has implemented over 20 policy-driven projects nationally. Her research addresses food policy, food environments, and nutrition governance. She is actively involved in national technical committees and policy working groups, contributing to Thailand’s efforts in obesity prevention and healthy diet promotion.
Sameeha Mohd Jamil

Sameeha Mohd Jamil

Country Lead, Malaysia
Sameeha Mohd Jamil is a Senior Lecturer at the Centre for Community Health Studies (ReaCH), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. She holds a PhD in Public Health and focuses on food marketing, pester power, and retail practices. Dr. Jamil has contributed to national nutrition policies as a core writer of dietary guidelines and as a technical advisor for the MyIklan initiative on responsible advertising. She has been recognized with several faculty awards for teaching and research excellence.
Poh Bee Koon

Poh Bee Koon

SEAOFE-PAR Study Lead
Poh Bee Koon is a Professor of Nutrition at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and an expert in regional nutrition and food environment research. She led the SEANUTS multi-country survey and the SEAOFE study, which inform regional nutrition strategies and food policy. As lead for the Participatory Action Research component of SHAPE Asia, she brings extensive experience in cross-country research coordination and stakeholder engagement.
Avita Usfar

Avita Usfar

Country Lead, Indonesia
Avita Usfar holds a doctorate in Public Health from Heidelberg University and has over 25 years of experience in nutrition research, policy, and advocacy. She has worked across government, academia, and international development sectors, including WHO, UNICEF, and GAIN. Dr. Usfar’s expertise spans food security, nutrition fortification, and multisectoral collaboration, positioning her as a strategic advisor within SHAPE Asia.
Nisha Arunatilake

Nisha Arunatilake

Country Lead, Sri Lanka
Nisha Arunatilake is Director of Research at the Institute of Policy Studies of Sri Lanka and holds a PhD in Economics from Duke University. She has extensive experience in public finance, health, and education policy research, with a strong track record of working with international organizations such as the World Bank, UNICEF, and IDRC. Dr. Arunatilake led the fiscal policy study on promoting healthy diets in Sri Lanka and contributes deep policy insight to SHAPE Asia.
